First contracts signed with contractors in the Croatian Coral Center Zlarin

The city of Šibenik has successfully secured 13,332,404.97 Croatian kuna in non-refundable funds for the project “Croatian Coral Center Zlarin” within the Call for Project Proposals for the Promotion of Sustainable Development of Natural Heritage under the Operational Program “Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014-2020.”
On the island of Zlarin, in mid-May 2020, the first coordination meeting for the Croatian Coral Center Zlarin project took place. Representatives from the City of Šibenik, the contractor MP Beton Ltd., the architectural supervision company Arhitektonski biro Prostor Ltd., the technical supervision company Građevinski projekt Ltd., as well as representatives of the Zlarin local committee and Zlarin Tourist Board attended the meeting. The coordination meeting marked the official start of the works for the renovation of the Kažerma and Šare houses within the Croatian Coral Center Zlarin project, with an expected duration of 15 months.
A contract for the renovation works of the Šare and Kažerma houses, including the access road, was signed with the company MP Beton Ltd. from Split. The total value of the contracted construction works amounts to 13,638,782.00 kuna, excluding VAT.
As part of the construction works, four floors of the Kažerma house with a total net area of 452.98 m2 will be renovated, as well as three floors of the Šara house with a total net area of 204.52 m2. The courtyard between the mentioned houses, with an area of 87.50 m2, will also be renovated and transformed into a presentation and educational center. Additionally, the access road leading from the shore to the Šare and Kažerma houses will be reconstructed as part of the construction works.
The total value of the Croatian Coral Center Zlarin project is 24,127,147.50 kuna, and the project partners are the Public Institution for the Management of Protected Areas and Other Protected Natural Areas of Šibenik-Knin County – Priroda, Zlarin Tourist Board, and the Association for Nature and Environment Protection and the Promotion of Sustainable Development Argonauta. The project is co-financed by the European Union funds under the Operational Program “Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014-2020.”
